This month Minimax is proud to support some of our favorite Australian brands developed by women.
Bondi Wash
by Belinda Everingham
Launched in 2013 by Bondi-based mother of 3, Belinda Everingham, Bondi Wash was inspired by the novel 'Perfume' by Patrick Suskind, which is about the evocative power of scent. Reading the novel while on holidays in Far North Queensland, and surrounded by unusual native flora, Belinda wondered whether Australia could create beautiful fragrances and products from native botanicals, just like the French have been doing for centuries. All Bondi Wash products are 99-100% plant-based. Nothing nasty – the only non plant-derived ingredients are food grade preservatives used to ensure the products are shelf-stable. Products are non-toxic, bio-degradable and contain ingredients sourced from the best Australian suppliers.

Maison Balzac
by Elise Pioch
Maison Balzac is a collection of perfumed candles and delicate objects created in Sydney, Australia. Each product is developed as an ode to memories from founder Elise Pioch's childhood in the South of France. “They are like Proust’s madeleine for me! I named the brand after my grand parents, Jeanine and André Balzac, who taught me a sense of balance and style.” From her experience working in fashion in Paris and Sydney, Elise sought to create a range that was both beautiful and sentimental. Working with makers and perfumers in Australia, France and Mongolia she has created a range of signature objects that evoke olfactive memories or experiences.
Indus
by Deborah George
Melbourne-based textile brand Indus was founded in 2009 by Deborah and Jeffrey George. Defined by their unique and innovative approach to design practice, the duo draw on their intimate understanding of Australia’s retail landscape to create a versatile and modern aesthetic. As creative director, Deborah harnesses her vast experience to curate two distinct collections each year. She is passionate about textile design and is continually inspired by timeless shapes and the inherent artistry of nature. Often returning to her experience working with Japanese design, she errs on the side of paring pattern back, yet understands the careful balance required to add more within any given canvas.
Glasshouse
by Nicole Eckels
Nicole Eckels, Glasshouse Fragrances Co-Founder & Creative Director says “Fragrance has the power to transform every moment. To put life in an illuminating light, no matter the occasion or simply no occasion at all. I believe that beautiful fragrances can change a mood, transform a room and create an emotional escape. So I embarked on a journey fuelled by passion and blind faith. I created fragrances that could take you to another world. And as I created, I realised that every element of a place or time can be brought to life with scent. It's possible to create a world with fine fragrance and pour it into a glass so you can travel to bolder and brighter worlds.”
